TONY ROBBINS’ TOP 10 MOST RACIST TEACHINGS
Tony Robbins is, in every way, a giant of a man who overcame poverty and abuse to build a multi-million dollar personal development empire. There are so many frauds in the “self-help” space and this perplexing “life coaching” profession (based on the premise, I guess, that life is a game you need to learn how to play) but Tony isn’t one of them. While not doubting his heart or authenticity, he peddles the same white myths that have supported systemic racism in this country and the world.
He’s such a powerful persona; imagine what Tony Robbins could do if he decided to eradicate racism in his business model, seminars, offerings, and philosophy. This is a guy who could move mountains and yet you rarely see a black face in his audience. No doubt most people are priced out of his performances but it’s much more than that. You can take almost any quote, premise, or position Robbins preaches and put the words “except if you’re black in America” after them. “Self-help” and “personal growth” are purely white industries. Check it out. Try to read each of these from the perspective of someone with black skin in America:
1.“The path to success is to take massive, determined action.”
Except if you’re black in America where there are roadblocks to success in education, job opportunity, real estate, business, law enforcement, public policy and personal safety.
2.“Persistence overshadows even talent as the most valuable resource shaping the quality of life.”
